A Message from Mr. Herb:
I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to share this message with you as the new Principal of Dundee Middle School. The past month or two of conversations with the staff, students, and community of DMS has certainly led me to believe that I have been asked to join a truly special place.
As we continue to push academic rigor at DMS, remember that mistakes are proof that you are trying and that those mistakes allow us to grow as learners and as individuals as well. I ask that you consider taking academic risks, step out of your comfort zone, and not be afraid to fail. It has been said many times by many thought leaders that “failure is the first step to success” and this is something that could not be more true.
Throughout the course of the next couple months, I will be getting into classrooms to observe the teaching and learning happening across the building. Please follow one of the communication channels (Principal's Page, Twitter, Facebook) that has been setup to stay up-to-date with the latest information from DMS.
This is certainly an exciting time in education. We continue to learn more about how students learn and best practices around increasing rigor and engagement so that students are prepared for high school, college, and career. We are progressive in the way in which technology is being infused in our classrooms and hope to explore the ways Augmented Reality, 3D printing (makerspaces), and Coding can redefine our classroom spaces in the coming year. We are purposeful in our actions and reflective of our teaching through data discussions in both our teams and departments.
As always, please contact us should you have questions or concerns.
