Members of S.O.D.A. participate in games and have snacks at most meetings. In addition other activities have included roller-skating, open gym, and guest speakers. Any DMS student may join S.O.D.A. and all are encouraged to attend Operation Snowflake. Snowflake is a popular annual event usually held on one Saturday from 8:30am - 3:00pm. Students are given factual information from trained professionals and are then assigned to a small group that is facilitated by adult and teen volunteers where students share their feelings about the ideas presented. A lunch, snacks, and snowflake T-shirt are provided. There is a fee charged for the day and a limit on the number of participants on a first-come basis.
